Abstract

On March 25, 2024, Lin Wu, Secretary of the Shandong provincial Party committee and director of the Standing Committee of the provincial people's Congress, visited the "Shandong Feicheng 100 MW advanced compressed air energy storage power station (phase II project)" project to inspect and guide the work, accompanied by relevant leaders of the provincial development and Reform Commission and the Energy Bureau. "Shandong Feicheng 100 MW advanced compressed air energy storage power station (phase II project)" is located in Feicheng City, Shandong Province. It is independently developed and provided by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Shandong Environmental Energy Design Institute Co., Ltd. is responsible for the design. It is the world's first 300MW/1800MWH advanced compressed air energy storage power station based on salt cavern gas storage. The construction contents of the project include: 1 set of 300MW advanced compressed air energy storage demonstration system and 1 220kV substation. The core facilities are mainly divided into energy storage workshop, energy release workshop, booster station, cold and heat storage tank area and comprehensive water pump room. The total investment of the project is about 1.5 billion yuan, and the designed annual power generation is 0.594 billion degrees. New energy storage is an important technology and basic equipment to build a new power system, an important support to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, and an important field to give birth to new domestic energy formats and seize new international strategic heights. Among the many energy storage technology routes, compressed air energy storage has unique advantages in terms of function, cost, life and efficiency. It is especially suitable for long-term large-scale energy storage. It is an important means to realize large-scale development and utilization of renewable energy and power system regulation. The project has been successfully selected into the "2022 Shandong Province Energy Field New Technology, New Products and New Equipment Catalog", "2022 Shandong Province Energy Storage Demonstration Project Catalog" and "2023 Shandong Province Green and Low-Carbon Technology Achievement Catalog". Taking advantage of the flexible power generation adjustment and fast adjustment speed of this project, it can effectively stabilize the fluctuation characteristics of new energy power generation output such as wind and solar, participate in power grid peak adjustment, relieve the pressure of power grid peak adjustment, and improve the quality of power supply and the safety of power grid operation. At the same time, compressed air energy storage is an environmentally friendly energy source, which can improve the local environment to a certain extent. Shandong Environmental Energy Design Institute Co., Ltd. and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have formed a strategic partnership and have been working closely on a number of compressed air energy storage projects since 2020. So far, the two sides have cooperated in the implementation of five compressed air energy storage power generation projects. Shandong Feicheng 100 MW advanced compressed air energy storage power station (phase II project) will be put into operation in the near future. This marks an important step in the industrialization of China's advanced compressed air energy storage technology in the field of long-term large-scale energy storage.
