China's installed power capacity exceeds 3 billion kilowatts
According to the latest national power industry statistics released by the National Energy Administration on May 23, as of the end of April, my country's cumulative installed power generation capacity exceeded the 3 billion-kilowatt mark, reaching about 3.01 billion kilowatts, achieving another milestone in the scale of power installed capacity.
In 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed a new energy security strategy of "four revolutions and one cooperation. Over the past decade, China's energy system has comprehensively promoted the structural reform of the energy supply side, continuously increased high-quality and effective supply, and improved the ability to guarantee energy security supply. After exceeding 1 billion kilowatts in 2011, China's installed power generation capacity exceeded 1.2 billion kilowatts in 2013, surpassing the United States to become the country with the largest installed power generation capacity in the world, and exceeding 2 billion kilowatts by the end of 2019.
The transformation of the installed power generation structure shows the development trend of green and low-carbon energy, and highlights the remarkable achievements of China's new energy development. As of the end of April, China's solar power installed capacity of about 0.67 billion kilowatts, wind power installed capacity of about 0.46 billion kilowatts. The installed capacity of wind power solar power generation accounts for about 37.5 per cent of the country's installed capacity. my country's new energy and renewable energy power generation installed capacity exceeded 1.5 billion kilowatts and reached 1.52 billion kilowatts at the end of 2023, historically surpassing thermal power installed capacity and becoming the main body of power installed capacity, accounting for more than 50% of the country's total installed power generation capacity.
